Non-Compos Mentis

The department of Fashion Communication offers an exciting multi-disciplinary course that brings together the fields of graphic design, visual merchandising, photography and styling, advertising, fashion journalism, and space design. The students of Fashion Communication spend three semesters conducting detailed research on a topic related to their field of specialisation and compiled their findings in the form of a colloquium paper. These papers were the culmination of advanced research into issues concerning the communication industry and were intended to give students an opportunity for self-initiated thinking, research techniques, and introspection.

In 2009, for the first time, the Colloquium Papers of all the students of the class of 2009 of the Fashion Communication Department, New Delhi were compiled into a book titled ‘Non-Compos Mentis’. The book launch function of ‘non-compos mentis’ was hosted along with the student graduation show on the 26th of May, 2009 at Auditorium No.3, Siri Fort Auditorium by eminent industry experts including Ms. Harmeet Bajaj (Fashion Director, Marie Claire), Mr. Sarthak Kaushik (Radio Jockey, 95.0 FM), Mr. Dev Kabir Malik (Dev Kabir Malik Design), Mr. Anthony Lopez (Lopez Design), Mr. Sumant Jayakrishnan (Scenographer), Mr. Rajesh Dahiya (CoDesign), Ms. Sujata Assomull (Editor, Harper’s Bazaar, India) and Mr. Ankur Choksi (Lotus).
